Regal Ware Awards Scholarships for 45th Consecutive Year

Kewaskum, WI (April 11, 2008)

Emily Aycock and Kurtis Wetzel have been named the recipients of  the J.O. Reigle scholarships for 2008.  The scholarship program was established in 1963 in honor of Regal Ware’s founder, the late J.O. Reigle.  The award recognizes the outstanding scholastic achievements of one or more graduating seniors at Kewaskum High School, and is designed to assist the recipients in their pursuit of a college education.  To be eligible for the $18,000 J.O. Reigle scholarship a student  must have attended Kewaskum High School for at least the previous 2 years, and maintained at least a “B” average for the first 3½ years of high school. Emily and Kurtis will each receive $4,500 per year for their 4-year college programs..

Emily, daughter of Roy and Beth Aycock of Kewaskum, plans to attend the University of Wisconsin – Madison to study pre-pharmacy.  “I have known since my freshman year of high school that I wished to become a pharmacist,” Emily wrote in her application.   Emily’s school activities include Key Club, Badger Girls State, student council, junior class president, National Honor Society, band, choir, Spanish club, and World Affairs seminar.  Her hobbies include reading, volleyball, drawing, and singing.

Kurtis is the son of Roy and Audra Wetzel of Kewaskum.  His activities at Kewaskum High School include football, golf, newspaper, musical, choir, drama club, National Honor Society, German club, and class vice president.  Volunteer activities include Big Brothers/Big Sisters, church choir, and volunteering at the elementary school.  His leisure time is spent reading, hunting, and playing trumpet.  Kurtis plans to attend Martin Lutheran College in New Ulm, Minnesota where he will study Pastoral Ministry.
